Following nearly a year of being sedentary from two back-to-back broken ankles, I found myself out of shape, overweight, and lacking motivation. I started working out with my personal trainer in May of 2017 at my absolute heaviest physical and lowest mental points. Initially, I was very intimidated by the idea of working out alongside people twice my age with higher levels of physical endurance than I. However, my coach has established an inclusive community of people looking to better themselves while simultaneously building others up. I felt driven in this positive environment, as well as enjoyed both the physical and mental challenges of the classes so much that I began attending regularly, twice a week. In addition, I began working out on my own and developing healthier eating habits. After a little over a year of this lifestyle change, I have lost well over 30 pounds, dropped from a size 12 to an 8, and maybe even more importantly, I have never felt happier in my life.
